Banned Books Week

Stand up for your right to read!

From the American Library Association: "Banned Books Week is an annual event celebrating the freedom to read. Typically held during the last week of September, it highlights the value of free and open access to information. Banned Books Week brings together the entire book community — librarians, booksellers, publishers, journalists, teachers, and readers of all types — in shared support of the freedom to seek and to express ideas, even those some consider unorthodox or unpopular."

Library webpage revamp

Some things have moved on the library webpage. For one, you'll notice that my page and the library page are now 1 page. HOORAY! In this migration, I've had to rearrange, condense, delete and rework. This page is still changing (hoping to add my Twitter feed & photo album soon). If you can't find something, just ask.

Less than 12 hours!

The new school year starts in less than 12 hours! The library will be open (but not at 7:30--I have to pass out schedules). So excited to see you again and hear about all the books you read over the summer!

July 25

I'm excited about the iChampion Summit this week. I hope to learn some more ways I can help students & teachers in the library.

The district librarians are even presenting a session about some services the library already provides (databases and ebooks).

Summer

Check out my blog (http:readingjourneys.blogspot.com) to see what I'm reading this summer. My TBR (to be read) pile grows with each new book order! I'm hoping to get 10 books read over the next 12 weeks.

Leap Day

I'm spending the day at the Abilene Public Library learning some cool ideas for teen programming!

April is...

There's much happening in April! Not only is it School Library Month, it's also National Poetry Month. Come check out some great reads in the library. I will be heading to TLA Conference next week (April 14-17) in Austin. I can't wait to see the latest "hot" books for 2015 and meet some awesome authors. Kiera Cass is at the top of my list.
