About Us

The SHS Stingerette Drill Team was started in 1953.
It is one of the oldest and most respected high school drill teams in the state of Texas.

The Stingerettes have been under the direction of Mrs. Kimberly Kelsey since 2010.

The 2024-2025 team is made up of 4 captains, 4 Spirit Leaders, 14 line members and 2 managers.

Interested in becoming a SHS Stingerette?

Stingerettes can be a very rewarding experience for any student. It develops self-esteem, character, team building skills, and friendships. It also teaches students time management skills, etiquette, communication skills, responsibility, how to set and achieve goals, the importance of attendance, leadership skills, artistic expression, and so much more!

We have an exciting, busy schedule of summer camps, daily class, practices, pep rallies, football games, fund raising, banquets, Spring performances, competitions, and tryouts for the next year's teams.

Membership is by try-outs only and is typically held in March or April of each school year. Eligible candidates are evaluated on kicks, splits, leaps, jumps, choreography, and appearance by a panel of judges. Judges selection will be final.
