  • PSAT - 11th grade - Pre-SAT test which is the entrance exam for the National Merit Scholarship Program.
  • STAAR End of Course Testing
    •  English 1; English 2; Algebra 1; Biology and US History
    • Please see the Assessment Calendar for dates. 
  • Advanced Placement (AP) 
    • Registration is in February each year through the AP classes. 
    • Students must register with the testing coordinator in order to test. 
    • Tests are given during the 1st and 2nd weeks of May.

  • TELPAS
    • English Language Learner assessment
    • Encompasses listening, hearing, reading and writing skills.
  • Texas Success Initiative (TSI)
    • House Bill 5 implemented new college readiness requirements for high schools to assess college readiness.
    • All juniors must be tested unless they are exempt or previously passed the Accuplacer and enrolled in Dual Credit Course on or before Fall of 2013 or the TSI.
    • Exemptions:
      • SAT – Reading + Math = 1070 and at least a 500 on math and reading - SAT on or after March 5, 2016 - a minimum score of 480 on the Evidenced-Based Reading and Writing (EBRW) test shall be exempt for both reading and writing sections of the TSI Assessment; a minimum score of 530 on the mathematics test shall be exempt for the mathematics section of the TSI Assessment.  There is no combined score.
      • ACT – Composite 23 and at least a 19 in reading and math
    • If a student does not pass one or more sections:
      • Can retest at SHS for $5 per test section
Homeschooled Students
  • May participate in the PSAT and AP testing.
  • PSAT - Contact the testing coordinator at 254-968-4141 by October 1st.
  • AP - Contact the testing coordinator at 254-968-4141 by March 1st.
