Texas Success Initiative (TSI)
House Bill 5 implemented new college readiness requirements for high schools to assess college readiness.
All juniors must be tested unless they are exempt or previously passed the Accuplacer and enrolled in Dual Credit Course on or before Fall of 2013 or the TSI.
SAT – Reading + Math = 1070 and at least a 500 on math and reading - SAT on or after March 5, 2016 - a minimum score of 480 on the Evidenced-Based Reading and Writing (EBRW) test shall be exempt for both reading and writing sections of the TSI Assessment; a minimum score of 530 on the mathematics test shall be exempt for the mathematics section of the TSI Assessment. There is no combined score.
ACT – Composite 23 and at least a 19 in reading and math
If a student does not pass one or more sections:
Can retest at SHS for $5 per test section
May participate in the PSAT and AP testing.

AP - Contact the testing coordinator at 254-968-4141 by March 1st.
