About Me

I was born and raised in Abilene,TX. I graduated from Abilene High School in 2006. I then went to Texas A&M University and graduated in December 2010 with a B.S. in Interdisciplinary Studies with a concentration in Special Education.

In the Fall of 2011 I moved to Stephenville and began a a substitute in the distric for the 2011-2012 school year.

In July of 2012 I married my husband, Kolby Richardson, and returned to the distric for the 2012-2013 school year as an instructional aide in one of the high school life skills classrooms.

In the Spring of 2013 I was generously offered the place as teacher of the life skills class I had been the aide in and graciously accepted.

I love my job and I love working at the high school. I look forward to helping students gain the functional and vocation skills they need to become active members of the community.

It is my goal that each of your students become as independent as they can. I look forward to working with each and everyone of your students as well as you this school year.

Angel Tree and Around the World Party

Hello all,
I would just like to express my gratitude to you all for supporting this idea of mine. I am overwhelmed by the generosity you all have shown during this time of the year.
On a second note, I am sending out the invitation for the Around the World Party a second time today. If you all could please send back your RSVP. I need a count for drinks and paper goods.
Thank you all again for your support this semester, I look forward to finishing strong and having an excellent Spring semester.

Christmas Around the World Party

Students, paraprofessionals and myself have divided up our 12 countries we will explore as we learn about Christmas traditions from around the world. We will have a party on the last day of the semester in which the students, with your help, will get to present an edible good from their chosen country. I will be sending home an information sheet about the party and your students chosen country either today of tomorrow, so please check for these and send them back. I look forward to sharing this joyous time with you all.

This semester has flown by. I hope you all have a safe and Happy Thanksgiving!! When we return we only have three weeks left of the fall semester. During December we will be exploring how other countries celebrate Christmas. As always, I love watching yours students learn and grow.

It's been awhile, I hope all is going well with everyone. We are closing out our 2nd six weeks (which was actually only five weeks). I see each of your students growing everyday. Please remember if you have any concerns don't hesitate to call me or email me.
I am planning a future field trip to the Fort Worth Zoo and will be sending home a parent input form to she what you all think about this idea. Please be honest.
Take care and I look forward to hearing from you all.

Today was a great day! The students did an amazing job cooking our first Busy Bee lunch of the year (we take orders and make lunch for the teachers). The students did a great job following directions and practicing their kitchen skills. They then delivered the meals to the office and the teacher lounge. Your students are amazing and surprising me everyday.

Oh, the end of the first six weeks already! Where has the time gone.

Ok, so Monday will start a new chapter and six weeks in our class. We will be focusing on dividing our class by academics and 18+ training program. We will also be starting HEB job training, so please remember to send a blue or Stephenville shirt with your students. We will keep these shirts up at school for the remainder of the year, we will wash them each week.

I am looking forward to the changes we are making and to what the rest of the school year has in store.

We have been busy learning about the Science and Social Studies behind Autumn. We have completed some fine motor crafts to accompany our lessons.

Tomorrow, Tuesday September 23rd, is picture day. Remember to send money if you would like to purchase pictures.

We are three and a half weeks in and your students are amazing. Everyone has settled back into the classroom routine and they are working hard. I am looking forward to a great year.

Tomorrow, Thursday the 18th, will be our Heart of Gold pep rally and game. The game will be at 8pm at Tarleton's Memorial Stadium and will be live broadcast by ESPN. So if you have a Heart of Gold t-shirt wear it tomorrow.
